1. Go Off Season
Just like a holiday there are on peak and off-peak times to book. Once you find a venue that fits within your budget, get a few quotes for different months of the year. If the cheapest month falls in autumn or winter, try and haggle for a plan B option like a heated marquee or indoor space if the weather turns.
2. Hold it at Home
Although this isn’t as glamourous as a large venue, if planned right it can be just as memorable. Getting an outdoor heated marquee, is a great solution to keep the party going outside of the house and in a comfortable environment.
3. Ask for Wedding Help Instead of Gifts
If you’re struggling to find the budget for your wedding, why not ask guests to contribute a small amount instead of buying you gifts. There are plenty of ways to raise funds for your special day, why not run a gofundme event for friends and family or ask for a set contribution.
4. Do Your Own Catering
The cost of food and drink for a wedding can be extortionate. Why not do your own catering, or find a local university or catering school, they’ll be more than happy to have a budding student create your menu for the day.
5. Buy off the Rack of On Sale
The next most expensive investment of a wedding is the dress or tuxedo, to save some money pick a dress or suit from the rack rather than bespoke or find one that’s on sale. If you’re not too bothered about owning your wedding clothing, why not rent your dress or suit for the day.
