1.Do you have insurance:
When hiring a wedding photographer ensure they have public liability insurance for the un-expected from the photographer bumping into a guest with their lens or someone tripping over their tripod.
2.What style / s do you specialize in:
Make sure the style of photography you want and the photographer shoots is a good fit, do you love and want iconic stylized bride & groom portraits or only reportage images through-out your big day.
3.
How many
weddings have you shot:
Don’t be embarrassed to ask this, you are placing your trust & faith into someone to capture every special moment of one of the biggest day’s of your life. Make sure they have a wealth of knowledge & experience.
4. How many hours is included in a full day’s coverage:
You want to make sure that every special moment is being captured in camera, most wedding over-run!
How much would it cost for an additional hour?
I have seen photographers & videographers leave before the 1st dance when their time was up and no extra hours were agreed.
Don’t let this happen to you.
For all my weddings I stay from Bride & Groom preparation till midnight.
5. Will you be shooting alone or do you bring a 2nd photographer:
You don’t want to miss a thing, so consider a 2nd photographer to shoot from intresting angles, like the bride and her father walking down the aisle shot walking towards camera and a 2nd photographer shooting them from behind walking towards the Groom with the entire congregation looking at the bride.
6. What do you love about shootings weddings and what you do:
This may sound like an odd question, but it’s a crucial question to ask.
You want to make sure the person who shoots your wedding is as excited & excited about your big day – as you are, and this isn’t just a job to them. Do they love what they do and have a passion for it.
7. Can I view some completed weddings or storybooks
I would suggest viewing 2 or 3 full weddings not just their signature images on their website, you want to make sure they can capture every part of a wedding day from bride & groom preparation to the very last dance.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
The photographer should make you feel at ease, no question is silly and really your photographer should cover this all for you so when they say ‘do you have any questions’ if you draw a blank, and feel confident in them and that everything you need to know has been discussed.
